I work with canvases the way I work with words and food in the kitchen—intuitively, usually without a goal or an end in mind until my materials start speaking to me and tell me how to help them.

Art is always a conversation, even when it’s photorealistic—and while I’ve created representational art with my own hands since early childhood, in these times I prefer work that offers suggestions, hints, and opportunities to seek and find.
